Becoming a Member

The prescribed fees for registration as a Certified Investment and Financial Analyst as are as follows:

Requirements for Application of Grant of Practicing Certificate

A Full Member wishing to apply for a Practising Certificate must have at least four (4) years of experience and shall apply to the Registration Committee as prescribed in Section 22 of the Investment and Financial Analysts Act.

The applicant should provide:

  • A certified copy of ICIFA Full Membership Certificate. The copy should be certified as being a true copy of the original by an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya who must also be a Commissioner for Oaths. Alternatively the copies may be certified at the Institute’s offices on presentation of the original certificate by the applicant or his/her representative.
  • Two (2) recent colored passport size photographs.
  • A copy of the National Identity Card or Passport.

Upon successful application for the Grant of Practising Certificates, members of the Institute are eligible to hold practicing certificates (issued one-off) and Annual Licenses (Issued annually).

Membership Categories

Associate Membership

Persons who have passed their Certified Investment and Financial Analysts (CIFA) professional qualification and have complied with section 16 (3) of the Act but have less than three years of relevant work experience shall beeligible for registration as Associate Members of ICIFA.

How to Register as an Associate Member

  1. Create a user account at  ICIFA Membership application form and fill in the application form
  2. Fill the  ICIFA Fit and Proper form

and attach certified copies of:

  1. Up to date CV;
  2. National ID or Passport;
  3. Two colored passport photos;
  4. Recommendation letters from previous and current employers
  5. A copy of your academic and professional certificates;
  6. Any other important document.

Full Membership

Persons who hold the Certified Investment and Financial Analysts (CIFA) professional qualification and have complied with section 16 (3) of the Act and have at least three years of relevant work experience shall be eligible for registration as Full Members.

How to Register as a Full Member

Kindly fill the following forms:

  1. ICIFA Registration guidelines
  2. ICIFA Membership application form
  3. ICIFA grant of Practicing Certificate form (If applying for practising certificate)
  4. ICIFA Fit and Proper form (to be signed by a commissioner of oaths)

and attach certified copies of:

  1. Up to date CV;
  2. National ID/ Passport;
  3. Two colored passport photos;
  4. Recommendation letters from previous and current employers;
  5. A copy of your academic and professional certificates (CIFA, CFA or CIIA final examinations);
  6. Any other important document.

Requirements for Registration of Firms

Pursuant to section 18(1) and 21(1) of the Investment and Financial Analysts Act (No. 13 of 2015), the following are the requirements for firms to be registered with ICIFA:

  1. The Firms should give details of its engagement in the public practice of financial and investment analysis, including its proprietors.
  2. The Firms should have a person or persons who are members of ICIFA in good standing and hold Practising Certificates and valid Annual Licences issued by ICIFA
